Renowned California Grapes Available to Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Winemakers

June 7, 2005 - Dayton, NJ – After a successful 2004 vintage using some of the finest California grapes, The Grape Escape, the first and only winemaking school in Middlesex County, is embarking on its second California season in September and is now taking orders for the Fall Crush. Beginner, Intermediate and advanced winemakers made approximately 9,000 bottles of wine in 2004 at The Grape Escape.

At The Grape Escape all levels of winemakers learn the art and science of creating fine red or white wines, using some of the finest California grapes. They learn to crush grapes, press must, barrel the juice, and bottle their own wine, in an enjoyable relaxed atmosphere. Additionally, they have the opportunity to personalize their bottles with customized labels.

This unique experience only takes 4 sessions over a 10 month period, totaling 4-5 hours of hands-on winemaking. Winemakers can make their own wine for their own personal enjoyment, for special occasions such as holidays, weddings, reunions, or for personal and client gifts. It is a fun and casual environment which is perfect for sharing with friends, family and co-workers.

“As a beginner winemaker, I was excited about the opportunity to participate and learn how to make my own wine.”, said Mike Guzzo. “The Grape Escape is a friendly and fun environment that enabled my friends and me to socialize with each other while we crushed grapes to make our own wine. Not only was the experience unique and truly enjoyable, we have been able to witness the wine aging process through the four hands-on winemaking sessions. It is amazing to see it transform from grapes to quality California wine.”

“The wine from the 2004 vintage is wonderful…it was another exceptional year for grapes from an incredibly consistent region,” said Thomas Nye, master winemaker at The Grape Escape. “Every year seems to get better and better. The popularity of wine is at an all time high due to popular award winning movies such as “Sideways” as well as recent reports outlining all the health benefits of wine.”

Winemakers can now order California grapes for the Fall Crush at (609) 409-WINE (9463) or via the online form at www.TheGrapeEscape.net. Be sure to visit OPEN HOUSE: Jun 24, between 6:00-8:00 p.m. The winemaking experience includes: grapes, wine, wine storage, corks, bottles, shrink capsules, and custom labels.
